In the bestselling "How Not to Look Old: Fast and Effortless Ways to Look 10 Years Younger, 10 Pounds Lighter, 10 Times Better" Charla Krupp targets the appearance of youth in the work place.
Krugg, the beauty director at "Glamour" and senior editor of "In Style" spoke with Andrea Sachs of "Time." The topic of plastic surgery was raised during the interview.
Sachs voiced the opinion that plastic surgery and aging are synonymous, citing a quote from Isaac Misrahi, "Do you want to look 70? Get a facelift."
The point of concern Sachs raises is the potential for a poor facelift that gives the skin a tight, "frozen monkey" appearance.
While not overtly against cosmetic procedures, the interview in the magazine quotes Sachs as calling for "the perfect balance of doing something to get rid of our wrinkles and lines and sagginess -- but we can't go overboard, because it doesn't work that way."
Sachs spoke in favor of Botox injections for forehead wrinkles and crow's feet. "One of the things that happens as we age," she said, "is that our faces get thinner and gaunter, and we lose fat. A thin face is an old face, so you want to keep it plump. So we can plump it up with these fillers."
Additionally Sachs cited chemical peels and laser therapy to treat sun damage as "less abusive on your body than undergoing plastic surgery."
Given the expense of any cosmetic procedure of treatment, Sachs also emphasized a diligent skin-care system for women with Botox yearly as required as signs of age become more apparent.
